This attractive turn of the century Art Nouveau sideboard has been skillfully made with solid walnut and retains its original French polished patina. This large Art Nouveau sideboard is made of beautifully grained walnut with sinuous carvings of natural motifs. Thought to be English, the quality craftsmanship combines with a touch of "new art" style. 5. Victorian Kauri Sideboard or Washstand c.1885
This gorgeous sideboard or washstand is constructed with solid kauri and incorporates classic Victorian elements such as intricate piercing, repetitive spindles, three beveled mirrors and highly decorative brass handles. The piece was made in Melbourne by Danish furniture manufacturer, George Christian Clauscen and bears the maker’s stamp, Clauscen & Co 194-196 Bourke Street, Melbourne. It is in good original condition and has had minimal restoration. The pink marble was cracked and this has been replaced with a piece of black marble. The washstand will be an elegant addition to any bathroom, dining room or lounge room.

4. Victorian Cedar Sideboard c.1860-1890
This unusual cedar sideboard was probably made in Australia during the mid 19th century.The piece has been beautifully made using solid cedar and side cedar panelling, together with a peaked back highlighted by a panel of fiddleback cedar. The strong influence of Beidemeier design is evident in its pyramidal shaped back and square section tapering legs. The Arts and Crafts handles are a later addition, probably around 1900 and some replacement shelves have been recently added. This is a truely unique piece of furniture.

This elegant Edwardian walnut chiffonier has fantastic compact proportions and is perfect for a smaller room or that difficult space. It is a very simple design that is not overbearing. Well made as most walnut pieces from this era were, it has beautiful wooden spindles, indented lines and original brass handles as its main decorative features. There is a removable shelf behind each door and a lead lined bottle drawer on the right side. 10. Victorian Cedar Hall Table c.1850
Fine examples of quality Australian cedar are rare and deserve the admiration that this table will attract. The beautiful deep turned legs and fielded drawer with cedar and mother of pearl handles are typical of the Victorian era. The pyramid shaped back (note – we have a similar cedar sideboard) and excellent condition lift this hall table to special heights. This table will be seen in "The Great Gatsby".

9. Maple & Co Games Table or Desk c.1885
To own this is to own a piece from the halcyon days of Late Victorian furniture making. The table is made of solid oak and walnut with some veneer work and is in totally original condition. The graceful solid oak legs lead to quality brass and ceramic wheels. The two opposing drawers have walnut interiors, brass handles and both are stamped Maple & Co. The stamped leather top is tooled and has a lovely patina.

One of the most important names in Edwardian furniture was Maple & Co. Maples was based in Tottenham Court Road, London and was the largest furniture store in the world. It made its own furniture for sale at home and abroad, and drew its own customers from both the middle and upper classes and even royalty – Tsar Nicholas of Russia furnished his Winter Palace with furniture from its workshops. Maples also furnished British Embassies, even going so far as to arrange for a grand piano to be carried up the Khyber Pass on packhorses”. Furniture by Judith Miller (2005)

This stunning Arts & Crafts maple wardrobe was made by Beard Watson Limited (reg no. 19138) and is based on a suite designed by Shapland and Petter of Barnstaple in England. The rare, complete suite comprises a wardrobe with matching dressing table and washstand. The wardrobe has full hanging behind the two mirrored doors, a central upper cupboard with outstanding abalone, mother of pearl and fruitwood inlays, pull out slide and five deep drawers with original handles. Both mirrored doors have been professionally reinstated with great attention to the original design as the mirrored doors were missing when we acquired the piece. There is a matching kneehole dressing table and washstand that bear the same beautiful inlays.

This large wardrobe comes from South Australia and is made of solid blackwood. The original patina has a port wine tint and it boasts fantastic original Art Nouveau handles. The robe has great depth, so rare in a piece of this era, has one full length mirrored door and one spacious deep drawer. The combinations of understated fielded panels highlight the timber and handles while long back panels form the back. It should be noted that it is one solid piece and is very heavy.

The highest quality oak, ash and marble have been used to create this amazing ecclesiastical cabinet that has three solid oak sides with gothic carving and an open back. 3. Victorian Kauri Washstand or Sideboard c.1885
This gorgeous washstand or sideboard is constructed with solid kauri and incorporates classic Victorian elements such as intricate piercing, repetitive spindles, three beveled mirrors and highly decorative brass handles. The piece was made in Melbourne by Danish furniture manufacturer, George Christian Clauscen and bears the maker’s stamp, Clauscen & Co 194-196 Bourke Street, Melbourne. It is in good original condition and has had minimal restoration. The pink marble was cracked and this has been replaced with a piece of black marble. The washstand will be an elegant addition to any bathroom, dining room or lounge room.

This classic Arts and Crafts oak washstand has stunning checkerboard tiles and a white marble top. The piece is definitely from the UK and most likely from Scotland with its beautful solid oak construction, shaped legs and indented top. 1. Arts and Crafts Oak Dresser Cabinet c.1920
This beautiful Arts and Crafts oak dresser cabinet has a carved mirrored back and plenty of storage with two smaller drawers over two deep drawers, all with cedar interiors, and a single cupboard with shelf, original metal castors and mission style handles. This cabinet could be used in just about any room in the house. It would be fantastic in the bathroom as the mirror can be detached and mounted on the wall and it could be a useful workbench in the kitchen or laundry. Its castors make it easy to move.

8. Arts and Crafts Brass Fuel Chest c.1890
This impressive Arts and Crafts embossed brass coal box is a piece of art in its own right and is something that could not be replicated in style or manufacture today. The piece has three embossed brass sides that cover a thick, pine carcass that sits on bun feet and the brass top that features the word “Fuel” is secured by large strap hinges. The extraordinary designs on each panel depict mythological fish and foliage. It was originally designed to store wood and coal for open fires in Victorian times but could be used for storage of any items in a heritage or modern home.
